We are happy to report the book van from Manhattan was here and left lots of great books for all ages Be sure to come in and check them out!
Book Club selection for the month of August is Carnival Fantastico by Angela Montoya. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to the lively discussion.
The Kansas 250 Bookshelf Theme for August is Notable Kansans.
We have added several new magazines to our collection for you to check out. You might want to check out the Kansas magazine which has lots of interesting articles on Kansas events and history.
We have ordered the 2026 Kansas Notable books that will be arriving soon. These are books for all ages by Kansas authors.

Florence Library Summer Reading Program Nears a Successful Finish
The Florence Library Summer Reading Program is wrapping up another wonderful season, and what an exciting summer it has been! Throughout the program, children and families have spent their Saturdays discovering new books, making crafts, enjoying activities, and most importantly, developing a love of reading. We have just two meetings remaining in this year’s program, and we are looking forward to finishing strong. It has been amazing to watch our young readers grow in confidence while reaching their reading goals. One of the highlights of the summer has been seeing the incredible dedication of our participants. We are especially excited to celebrate one reader who has already logged more than 3,000 pages this summer! That kind of commitment is something to be proud of and serves as an inspiration to all of our readers. Our final gathering will be a celebration of everyone’s hard work. We’ll wrap up the summer with a fun-filled party featuring games, prizes, snacks, and a movie theater experience at the library. It will be a great way to celebrate the accomplishments of all our readers and end the summer on a high note. There is still time to join us for the final two sessions and finish your reading logs. Every page turned is an adventure, and we are proud of each child who has made reading a part of their summer. Thank you to our families, volunteers, and everyone who has supported the Florence Library Summer Reading Program. Your encouragement has helped make this another memorable summer, and we can’t wait to see everyone for our grand finale!
