Mayor Bob Gayle was asked to attend the North Central Kansas Library Association Apple workshop at Manhattan on Friday, September 21st. He was on a panel for decision making representing small towns.

Hey kids! Mark this on your calendar. The library will be hosting “Halloween Fun” at the library on October 26th at 3 p.m. School will be out that day so plan to come to the library for a fun time decorating pumpkin and bobbing for apples. Halloween refreshments will be served! A fun time is planned!
Our mission statement of the Florence Public Library is: the library should be perceived as a neighborhood center, “The Town’s Living Room”. We strive to be an attractive, safe, comfortable and welcoming place for members of the Florence community to meet, work and interact with others. Come and visit in our library with your friends, we are always open for anyone that wants to come visit!
THANK YOU to everyone for their generous donations at our last fund raiser. We appreciate your support! We will divided the net profits with the Florence Masonic Lodge. Make plans to attend our October fund raiser on October 8th. We will be serving a pulled pork meal and divide the profits with the Florence Fire Department. In honor of Fire Prevention Week, October 7th-13th the Florence Fire Department will have one of their fire trucks on display. Come support the library and our community!
The community book club continues to add new members and the will be meeting on October 3rd at 5:30 p.m. This month they are reading the “Kopp Sisters Triology” by Amy Stewart. Everyone is welcome to attend!
The library board is thinking about starting a “Friends of he Library” group. If anyone is interested in joining please let the librarian know of your interest.
Reading program winners this summer who received $52.00 for reading 26 books with the author from each letter of the alphabet were: Cadence Craig and Amy Gayle. Congratulations to them! Others who received a certificate and Wendy’s coupon were: Jacqueline Burhle, Ava Box, Gracie Mackey, Jordan Jones and Ella Mackey. Good job to all participants!
